I have to say I love Dracula, it's one of my favorite books. However I can't stand most modern vampire stories. My personal opinion is that it's because in Victorian times sex and intimacy and what not was very taboo and people had a great fear of things like that, so all that fearful energy was poured into the vampire stories. But nowadays people don't really think like that, so vampires are just sorta boring pretty boys.
@WestofAragon ikr? tbh i like the original Dracula (the book) A LOT more than the ones where there all like: i'm a monster, you should just stay away from me, for your own good. *cough* twilight *cough* or just the idea of having vampires look all 'sexy' and what not. Same for the old Dracula movies as well tbh :P
I like that idea :> well besides the fact that she was all ready gonna get married to whats his name
one thing that really annoys me about the book is how easy her mom made it for Dracula to kill her and turn her into a vampire. like. bruh. you do not change the way her room is, if the doctor, who seems to be the only one who knows whats going on, puts them there, or leave the window open just so she can 'have a breath of fresh air'. Like, why not just throw out a "Dracula welcome sign' while ur at it?
@potatoe4life Van Helsing didn't actually warn her about the importance of the flowers. He may have mentioned in passing that they would make her feel better, but conventional wisdom would say that fresh air on this warm, late summer night would do her good. She didn't know about Dracula, so why wouldn't she open the windows? The flowers smelled bad, so why wouldn't she move them? Van Helsing probably did right in not telling her, since she would've likely thrown him out if he claimed the illness was caused by magic.
