@yessence I think it's a variation of the same thing. In Danish folklore we call the beautiful girls with hollow backs ellefolk (http://www.denstoredanske.dk/Livsstil%2c_sport_og_fritid/Folketro_og_folkemindevidenskab/ellefolk) (there are males, too, but rarely mentioned) and while they don't like to show their backs, they will if asked, that is the rule they live by. Also unlike Huldra they don't have tails and while they can throw a pox on people if they want, they're usually benign and don't marry to become human. They are almost always clad in flowing white garments and have long whiteblond hair
