@docterzero Well I can't speak for the vikings, but bigger women used to be more attractive because they had wider hips and boobs, and therefor thought to be more fertile (this was way way back). Bigger also means wealthier, since you could afford more food, and as she said: they're linked to cold because they were thought to have a connection. So it actually makes a lot of sense to depict them like this.
