Pavements, they are called bloody pavements. Plus they are not in the middle, just not at the edge just about 4/5ths away from the edge.

This varies is the US, there are lamp posts one the side or slap in the middle of the side walk.

They put the lamp posts further in to make it less likely that someone will hit them. With their truck, that is.

Hmm, so they also have that problem. Where I live lamp posts, electrical poles, fire hydrants, Houses,(Basically anything to everything) can be found in the middle of sidewalks and roads.
